URGENT!! Public comments are urgently needed.
The ships are so dangerous they must have Coast Guard escorts, commandeering our national guard for private oil company security, like in Iraq, not available for coastal rescues or national security.
All river traffic would have to cease while the ship is in the river. No traffic would be allowed on the bridges, either. It's TOO dangerous. There would be a 1300 foot wide DANGER BUFFER where boaters could be shot if they unknowingly enter. Hearing impaired or boaters who don't speak English could be shot for not responding to warnings to leave the danger zone.
Highly volatile tanks are to be placed at major US shipping terminals to stem the renewable energy movement by flooding the market with highly explosive LNG. Not only that, but North Star has no insurance to pay for your damages in case of an accident or a sabotage attack. They won't even scent it so people can smell a leak and escape the ensuing fireball. Caring what happens to you is not profitable enough.

Remember the USS Cole? LNG tanks and ships are a threat to national security and to the safety of every living thing for a 7 mile radius from 2nd degree burns and secondary fires.
On the Columbia River, the ship would fill it's mega bilge at Mill Creek with no screen, sucking up yearling Salmon maturing in the estuary. Those would ride to Indonesia, then be pumped out. We don't want our wild Salmon shipped to Indochina. We need to support our fishing industry's future right here. They could screen the bilge hose, but they refuse.
The ship would have 5 minutes to turn around or be stuck for 12-24 hours, Coast Guard tied up, no river traffic until it is back at sea, halting our shipping industry and interfering with interstate traffic and commerce 'til it is gone.
California has refused to allow LNG pipelines or terminals to be built on land or at sea. Stopping global warming and developing environmentally friendly renewable energy cannot be derailed there and must not be in Oregon and Washington.
Pipelines to go right through peoples houses and barns could be rerouted, but they don't care. No scent would even be added for leak detection so we could flee to safety. The line would cross raging Mt. Hood snow melt rivers with rolling boulders to break it. Also, Spotted Owl habitat and old-growth forest would be leveled all the way to eastern Oregon in the proposed Lewis and Clark Wilderness.
Wake up environmental and public interest organizations!! Wake up Governor Kulongoski, Congressmen Wu and Baird, Senators Cantwell, Murray and Wyden, before it's too late! National security starts at home in our natural world. Wake up and see the 300 foot tall tank bombs to be installed near the mouth of the Columbia River painted dark green camouflage all seasons in the hot sun. and explosive ships coming our way, please!
