Get involved. Learn about current threats to old growth and native forests and wildlife who depend on diverse ecosystems for survival. Visit the State and National Forests, then go to Board of Forestry and State Land Board meetings and tell them how you want your public lands managed.  Graft and corruption have a powerful hold on some legislators and public employees. Most are good, honest people with a wealth of knowledge to share.

House Speaker John Boehner (Boner) announced today that he plans to introduce a bill that will save "billions of dollars" in food aid costs by mandating that seniors, pregnant women and the homeless will have to use food stamps and WIC coupons for pet food.

"The average can of pet tuna costs 49 cents," Boehner told reporters this morning. "We can't afford to have the elderly, needy and pregnant women spending the taxpayer's dollar on commercially canned fish meant for human beings."

In a separate measure, Boehner ordered Reichsmarshal Eric Cantor to draw up immediate tax rebate checks for tanning bed manufacturers.    -    From Incipit Vita Nova
